As a result of constant transferences in the ways we view and interpret the world, there is a need for us as designers to question our perceptions of the conventional functions of space and whether there is a ‘one size fits all’ system. While there will always be a need for the considerations of form and function, I believe we need to truly understand clients, users and their biographies, in order to successfully interpret the true intentions of space. My final year project “Populace” explores this through questioning the notions of the city, urbanity and the spatial manifestation of modern day communities, through the development of a residential community for future generations and their individual, cultural and sub-cultural reflexive biographies.
