Name of work:
Mi.iZ (pronounced "my eyes"): Vision for the Future
Description:
Mi.iZ is a response to direct and real concerns raised by low-vision people about non-intuitive and inappropriate technologies for their needs, specifically regarding physical safety, wayfinding and transportation needs for daily activities.
By integrating pedestrian obstacle information with GPS tags, public works and transport databases into a discrete pair of designer spectacles, users of Mi.iZ are constantly informed of their visual environment despite their diminishing vision. Information is shared up-to-date by the users of the system, promoting user independence, community engagement and integration, radically altering the users' vision for the future.
